Brother Derrick joined our staff in October of 2020. After providing pulpit supply that summer, he and his family relocated from NorthWest Arkansas where brother Derrick served as a youth pastor, hospital chaplain, and editor of a paper for a local association of baptist churches to be with us.
Brother Derrick first surrendered to the ministry in the summer of 2018 after yielding to what he describes as an inescapable burden to change career paths and serve God's Kingdom. When he first surrendered, he was not clear on what his calling was - only that he needed to be prepared for whatever path God had in mind for him. To prepare, Derrick returned to school at the BMA Theological Seminary in Jacksonville, Texas. Committed to being a lifelong learner, Bro. Derrick still takes classes to cultivate his understanding of God's Word and how to apply it to our lives.
His wife, Michelle Bremer, and Derrick have two children who are only 11 months apart in age. Their oldest, Charlotte (AKA Melon), was born in 2019 and their youngest, Charles (AKA Bubba), was born in 2020. Needless to say, the Bremers have a busy schedule raising their babies. Amongst the chaos of raising young children, the greatest pleasure the Bremers enjoy is sharing a meal with their friends, church members, and family.
