What to Expect

When you visit DSMBC for the first time, you'll find a welcoming environment. Whether you're joining us for one of our weekly bible studies on Sunday nights at 5 and 6 PM, Wednesday night at 6 PM, or our Sunday morning worship service (currently at 10:45 AM), you can use either door located on each side of our building.

    Job Description:

    DSBC Associate Pastor of Students

     

    Position Summary:

    We’re seeking a very motivated youth pastor. A suitable candidate will demonstrate themselves as a self-starter with a building mentality that will take responsibility to reach & equip students for Jesus Christ. The student pastor will plan, coordinate, and evaluate ministries serving students and their families. The student pastor will also provide leadership to student ministries by establishing the ministries’ vision, providing encouragement to parents, and planning leadership development for student leaders and adult leaders who serve in these ministries. Furthermore, a suitable student pastor will demonstrate flexibility by working alongside and assisting the lead pastor in the duties of caring for the congregation.

     

    Desired Skills and Experience:

    -Fulfills the qualifications of an Elder as found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7.

    -Ability to communicate and relate well with students and parents.

    -Well organized and able to develop volunteer leaders.

     

    Specific Responsibilities:

    1. Build, organize, and provide leadership for three main areas of student ministry:

    a) Build a ministry to students in grades 5-12 and college/young adult

    b) Build relationships with parents of students, as well

    local teachers, and school administrators.

    c) Build a leadership culture for adults & students who

    serve in the student ministry.

    2. Strategize discipleship initiatives for students; suggest and initiate changes as required to meet the needs of these groups.

    3. Work with and through the leaders of existing Church program organizations, networks, etc., to plan, coordinate, conduct, and evaluate educational, social/recreational, spiritual growth, training, and service activities for the assigned ministry groups.

    1. Organize outreach events and provide leadership for youth to reach other youth in their daily lives.

    5. Provide insight and counsel to students and their families as needed.

    6. The minister will work with a Youth Committee to budget and use funds for the assigned ministry areas.

    8. The minister will perform pastoral ministry duties such as home and hospital visitations, counseling, and pulpit ministry, as directed by the Lead Pastor.
